Anyone can create a QR code that links anywhere. Malicious QR codes can send you to phishing sites, download malware, or steal credentials. Always verify the source before scanning.
🛡️ How to scan QR codes safely:
- Preview the URL first. Most phones show the link before opening it.
- Check the domain. Does it match who you expect? Typos are red flags.
- Be suspicious of urgency. "Scan now or lose access" is a classic scam tactic.
- Don't scan codes from untrusted sources. Stickers over parking meters, random flyers, emails from strangers.
